The Dog Days of Summer — roughwighting

For years I’ve wondered why the best part of the year is called the “Dog Days of Summer.” Most dogs I know (and I’m close to many) aren’t enamored with summer. Too hot for their heavy fur. My granddog Charlie loves being outside, but on a “dog day of summer,” he buries himself in the […]

What’s Going on Inside The World of Politics

President Trump called on China on Thursday to investigate former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter in relation to the younger Biden’s business dealings during the tenure of the former vice president.

In May, Giuliani floated traveling to Ukraine to meet with Zelensky in an effort to push the country to investigate Biden, as well as matters connected to the release of negative information about Paul Manafort, the former chairman for Trump’s 2016 campaign. He ultimately reversed course and decided not to go.

The whistleblower complaint said that a day after Trump’s call, Volker and the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, met with Zelensky and provided advice about how to “navigate” Trump’s demands.

McCarthy calls on Pelosi to suspend Trump impeachmdent inquiry, accuses her of ‘recklessness why is Pelosi after trump the people voted for him the people should vote him out this should not be up to Pelosi and doesn’t she have something better to do like help the homeless world hunger

I think she is afraid that trump might just win the 2020 elections and she is going after him with all her force but I think she should stop the impeachment and let the people decide in the next elections Pelosi act’s like she is perfect very human make’s mistake trump is not a perfect president but no one is perfect and again all that force and time that she is using should be use to help people who need help.

I am sure that they have spend a lot of money in the case with trump when that money should be use to help the people.

Farewell to a great dog — beetleypete

Last week, I posted about a trip to Yarmouth, in 2011. My step-daughters’ dog Baxter was featured, and I remarked that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Many of you expressed commiserations over that, so I thought I would bring you this sad news. On Monday, he suffered a series of fits, and was […]

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
